The image you are seeing is not a music notation. It is the title of Danarto’s curious short story that was first published, in 1978, in a prestigious —rather conservative— literature magazine in Indonesia. This short story surprised, shocked, challenged and excited a large part of the art scene at the time, not only from the literature side, but also from fine and visual arts, and especially in parts where concretism and concrete poetry approaches were the favourable tendencies. And, yes, the title is neither words that make actual sense nor have meanings nor it is a musical notation as to what it might seem to be.

The assembly is an open workshop that will attempt to transliterate this curious short story that are commonly referred as ‘cak ngung’ or ‘ngung cak’ —as those are the only readable part of the whole title. ‘cak ngung’ was written, and repeatedly published, in Indonesian bahasa. Nayamullah Station will be hosting this transliteration attempt to Turkish in collaboration with İndonesian Student Association in Istanbul/İstanbul'daki Endonezya Öğrencileri Birliği.
