Guided Tours with the Support of Koç Holding
The guided tour programme of the 18th Istanbul Biennial offers visitors the opportunity to explore the biennial exhibitions accompanied by expert guides who have completed their training with the support of 2007–2036 Biennial Sponsor Koç Holding. In addition to single-venue tours at the biennial’s two main venues – the Galata Greek School and Zihni Han – two route-based walking tours are also available, each covering four different venues. Headsets are provided for all participants.
Tickets can be purchased in advance via passo.com.tr/en or the Passo mobile app, or on the day at the ticket desks located at the Galata Greek School and Zihni Han, which also serve as meeting points for the single venue tours. Priority ticket sales for the guided tours of the 18th Istanbul Biennial will open for Black and White Tulip Card members on 13 August at 10.30, and for Red Tulip Card members on 14 August at 10.30. Tickets will be available for general sale via passo.com.tr and the Passo mobile application from 15 August.
SINGLE VENUE TOURS
Guided tours in Turkish take place daily at 11.00, 14.00 and 16.00 (except Mondays) at both the Greek Primary School and Zihni Han. English-language tours at these venues are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11.00. Each tour lasts approximately 60–70 minutes.
GUIDED ROUTES
Each of these route-based walking tours encompass four exhibition venues.
Beyoğlu Route
- Elhamra Han > Garden of the Former French Orphanage > Meclis-i Mebusan 35 > Galata Greek School
- Turkish tours: Daily at 11.00 and 14.00 except Mondays (Start point: Elhamra Han)
- English tours: Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11.00 (Start point: Elhamra Han)
- Duration: Approx. 3.5 hours
Karaköy Route
- Galeri 77 > Muradiye Han > Cone Factory > Zihni Han
- Turkish tours: Daily at 11.00, 14.00 and 16.00 except Mondays (Start point: Galeri 77)
- English tours: Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11.00 (Start point: Galeri 77)
- Duration: Approx. 2.5 hours
STROLLER MORNINGS
Stroller Mornings are specially designed tours for caregivers with infants aged 0–36 months on strollers, offering a relaxed visit to the biennial with a guide. These tours take place every Friday from 10.00 to 11.00 at the Galata Greek School. The capacity of the tours is limited to 10 adults. Each adult is kindly asked to participate with one baby. The venue has a baby changing unit and a lift. Parking is not available.
BIENNIAL EXCLUSIVE TOURS
If you’d like to explore the biennial with a private group, bespoke tours are available on request at any day and time except Mondays. These tours can also take place in the evening after the venues close to the public, offering a quieter and more tailored experience.
