With the support of Koç Holding and in collaboration with PACE Children’s Art Centre, children and young people are introduced to the biennial. Held at the Galata Greek School, the learning programme offers participants the opportunity to examine the exhibited works closely, exchange ideas, and develop their own creativity. In Turkish only.

In this two-part programme, participants first explore the exhibition at the Galata Greek School as a group. Then, in the venue’s workshop space, they create their own works inspired by their visit. In the workshop, participants will transform everyday objects, toys, magnets, souvenirs, and collection pieces that they brought from home, similar to those used by biennial artists, into three-dimensional artworks through upcycling.

THE BIENNIAL’S CHILDREN’S BOOK: OPTIGULL AND PESIGULL

Since 2017, Istanbul’s seagulls Optigull and Pesigull have embarked on a new adventure with every biennial. They return for the 18th Istanbul Biennial in Opti ile Pesi: Kayıp Sesler Haritası (Optigull and Pesigull: The Map of Lost Sounds), a new story published with the support of the Hisar Education Foundation. Written by Yekta Kopan, illustrated by Gökçe Akgül, and edited by Burcu Ural Kopan, the book follows the birds as they search for their lost friends among the biennial venues, tracing the vibrancy and diversity that Istanbul harbours. Optigull and Pesigull is available free of charge from the Galata Greek School throughout the biennial. Available also in English translation.

STROLLER MORNINGS

Stroller Mornings are specially designed tours for caregivers with infants aged 0–36 months on strollers, offering a relaxed visit to the biennial with a guide. These tours take place every Friday from 10.00 to 11.00 at the Galata Greek School. The capacity of the tours is limited to 10 adults. Each adult is kindly asked to participate with one baby. The venue has a baby changing unit and a lift. Parking is not available. In Turkish only.
