Nazlı Cem (born in 1989, Istanbul) is an artist who lives and works between Turkey and the US. She focuses on the mundane and the ordinary as the subjects of her work, which can take various forms including animation, illustration, comics and photography. Her practice relies on diving into her personal archives, daily record-keeping, observation and repetition. Some of the shows she has recently participated in are Next Stop, Dupont Underground, Washington DC (2019); Panimation Collective Showcase, London Illustration Fair, London (2018) and Pocko Gallery, London (2018); DC Summer Loops, Dupont Underground, Washington DC (2018). Some of the film festivals her animated short film Suriphobia has traveled to are Night of the Short Film Antwerp, Belgium (2018); Short to the Point International Film Festival, Romania (2017); Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, Chicago (2017).
