Talisman T-shirts is an ongoing interactive project of Ceyda Oskay inspired by historical Talisman shirts. These were shirts made in Anatolia, Coptic Egypt, Burma, Thailand and other places. They are protective garments onto which prayers, symbols, and astrological charts are drawn or written into. They were often undershirts. The project draws inspiration from these garments, and re-interprets them in a contemporary t-shirt and creates a ritual for them. The T-shirts are custom made after a session with the participants where the participants discuss any current concerns they may be having. Ceyda Oskay creates T-shirts for the participants that are to be worn for two consecutive nights. Some patterns or words related to the participants fears or anxieties wash off after these two nights, and some, related to their wishes, stay.
