In the scope of the Istanbul Biennial Production and Research Programme, realised in collaboration with İKSV Alt Kat and supported by the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA).

At the inter-Korean summit in April 2018, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met South Korean President Moon Jae-in in the DMZ (demilitarized zone between South and North Korea). Their half-hour private discussion was broadcast live by international press from a great distance, such that nothing but camera clicks and the song of native birds were audible. The audio from this historical meeting has been incorporated into Haegue Yang’s new installation for the 16th Istanbul Biennial, an immersive sensorial environment that provokes the senses with a diversity of scents, sounds and textures. During her talk, Yang will discuss her multifaceted practice and this new commission.
