The public event WATER advocates ‘the right of the water to flow freely’. We will be dealing with structures and processes that seize water’s right to flow freely, that restrict access to water, and that deposit all sorts of visible and invisible waste to water. We experience these structures and processes in every aspect of our lives, sometimes as the informed, sometimes as witnesses and sometimes as perpetrators. Highlights of our talk include the struggle against HEPPs (Hydroelectric Power Plants), climate crisis, centre-periphery relations, artificial nature, micro-plastics, migration, loss of the sense of belonging, and drifting away from the language of nature. Water is inspirational by its very own nature. It makes a call for flowing, for the power of nature and for letting ourselves transform with the World. Its vibrations open space for creation and movement, through intuitional bonds and undisciplined environments.

Digestion Programme

Designed by birbuçuk: Ecology and Art Studies consisting of climate change-energy economist and performance artist Ayşe Ceren Sarı, environmental scientist and artist Serkan Kaptan and curator Yasemin Ülgen, the Digestion Programme is a continuation of the ‘Respiration’ meetings organised by the collective in 2017 and 2018. In this series of public events, seemingly ordinary objects we are accustomed to as part of our daily lives will be brought up for discussion and examination. Placing the concept of socio-ecological metabolism at the centre, phenomenon such as water, agriculture, climate, energy, city, waste, gender, commons and future will be explored in relation to science, social movements and art practices, searching for possible dialogue opportunities in between.
