Berkay Tuncay (born 1983, Istanbul) lives and works in Istanbul. His art practice is shaped around investigating multi-layered influences of the internet on the global society by duplicating, assembling and transforming the cultural codes in online circulation. Tuncay has participated in various artist in residence programmes including Gastatelier NRW, Düsseldorf (2017); Cité des Arts, Paris (2014) and Art Centre, Istanbul (2011-2013). The artist’s solo exhibitions are: Getting Away With It All Messed Up, Display, Berlin, (2018); Life Is What Happens To You While You Are Busy Watching Cute Cat Videos, Gaia Gallery, Istanbul (2016); WE ARE ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN, 49A, Izmir (2013); I’M SORRY, BECAUSE I DANCE, De Kijkdoos, Amsterdam (2011).
