In close collaboration with Centre d’art Waza, Lubumbashi, and featuring contributions from an evolving group of guests and collaborators in Istanbul, Kigali and Lubumbashi, and within and beyond the Africa Cluster of Another Roadmap School (ARAC).
Christian Nyampeta (b. 1981, Kigali, Rwanda) is an artist who works in New York, London, the Netherlands and Rwanda, where he convenes the Nyanza Working Group of the Africa Cluster of Another Roadmap School—ARAC. His works engage with how people learn, work and live in the wake of radical ruptures. Nyampeta is currently participating in documenta fifteen within ARAC and Centre d’art Waza, and he is the convener of the Boda Boda Lounge 2022, a trans-African film and video art festival co-initiated by Waza. His group exhibitions include Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju, South Korea (2016); Dakar Biennale Dak’Art, Dakar, Senegal (2018); 5th Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art (2019) and Risquons-Tout, WIELS, Contemporary Art Centre, Brussels, Belgium (2021). Nyampeta was awarded the 2019 Art Prize Future of Europe from the GfZK and the European Union Prize at the 12th Bamako Encounters—African Biennial of Photography in 2019.
