(°) This screening will begin later than announced due to the duration of the previous film.
The reading group, which will gather every sunday between 4-6pm (GMT+3) on Zoom during the Biennial will read excerpts from a book and discuss it.
The first book featured at the reading group will be Ryszard Kapuściński's 1982 non-fiction book, Shah of Shahs. Kapuściński was a reporter in Tehran for the Polish Press Agency during the Iranian Revolution. This book, which describes the first days of the mullah's power in Iran after the overthrow of Reza Shah Pahlavi with photographs, audio tapes and notes taken by the author in his hotel room, also provides a key to understanding the resistance led by women in Iran today.
The first gathering (October 23) will be held in Turkish, and the next one (October 30) will be held in English. For both gatherings, the group will focus on the book Shah of Shahs.
