“Yenikapı’s Museums” consists of a publication called "Museum of Exhalation" and a public installation called "Museum of Digestion" at the Muze Gazhane, Kadikoy.

The work intends to highlight the political ecology of the Yenikapı/Langa region and present an alternative approach to museum-making that traditionally prioritizes human interests. Instead, the project focuses on telling the story of this region to show that museums can reveal the complex interdependencies among all kinds of inhabitants of Langa, from plants to ants, to gravel, to the garbage and the changing climate of the region…

In this workshop, we would like to experiment together the ways to create alternative dialogues with non-humans whom we share the same time, place, and air. We intend to explore the format introduced by "Museum of Exhalation" where we see the outcomes of when an anthropologist has a dialogue with a cow's excrement, a veterinarian-archaeologist with a dog bone, and a culinary historian with a thorn. Our idea is to open up this experience to you and your children and ask: who would you like to be interviewed by in this installation? How would you tune into a plant in the garden to listen to their story? What would the cat tell you if you pay attention to it?

In the workshop, we would like to spend time with the participants in the Museum of Digestion, talk about different subjects from Langa, and accompany the participants to start their interviews with the non-humans.

*Participation is limited to 15 people and registration is required.
**The event is for participants aged 18 and over.
