Hosting the works of contemporary artists from different disciplines as well as various workshops and seminars, Büyükdere35 was founded in 2017 as a gallery space. Located on Boğazkesen Yokuşu, a hill that connects Galatasaray Square at Istiklal Avenue to the blue waters of the Bosphorus, Büyükdere35 stands in one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods of Beyoğlu, humming with the vitality of everyday urban life.
After your visit to Büyükdere35, which is an Istanbul Biennial venue for the first time in this edition, you can drift towards the seaside, or follow the pedlars through the narrow streets of Çukurcuma and arrive at the fifteenth-century Firuz Ağa Mosque. There, you might sit in the nearby tea garden, one of the most prominent meeting spots in the district’s public life, and take in the lively surroundings with the neighbourhood’s resident cats.
