Şafak Çatalbaş is an artist who lives and works in Istanbul. She received her BA from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Film and Television Department in 2003 and completed her MFA at Yıldız Technical University, Art and Design Department in 2007. She is currently a PhD candidate in Art Practice at the same faculty. Using performance, video, text and installation, her work incorporates performative and introspective processes in a playful way. In 2014 she has been an artist-in-residency at Ostrale’014, Dresden, Germany and in 2015 at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France. Both collaboratively and individually, she participated in projects, residencies and exhibitions in Germany, Hungary, France, Austria, Georgia, Netherlands, England, Italy, Cyprus and Turkey.
