Vardal Caniş (born in 1990, Adapazarı, Sakarya) resides and works in Istanbul. Besides painting, Caniş has experimented with cabinets of curiosities, found object installations, video diaries and his printed publication ArabeskFanzin. Following the path of artists such as Reşad Ekrem Koçu and Proust, Caniş works on the issues of remembering and understanding. Her desire to connect painting and poetry has led her to create interdisciplinary patterns. Her first solo exhibition The Places I Grew, in which she painted the walls of the streets she had lived in, can also be visited online.
