Nihat Karataşlı (1988-2021) resided and worked in Chicago and Istanbul. The artist worked in fields such as sculpture, video and installation, and studied the effects of the human-technology relationship on sexuality, intimacy and perception of reality. He studied towards his Master of Fine Arts degree at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago on a New Artists Society Merit Scholarship. Karataşlı participated in artist in residence programmes in South Korea, Spain and Turkey. He gave speeches in art centres including Framer Framed (Amsterdam), Akbank Art (Istanbul), Borusan Contemporary (Istanbul) and Yapı Kredi Culture and Arts Publishing (Istanbul). Some of the group exhibitions he participated in were Within Receding Horizons, Sullivan Galleries, Chicago (2018); The Moving Idea, Ses Dotze Naus, Ibiza (2018); 2_gather, Art Centre Nabi, Seoul (2017); LA Artist Book Fair, Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, Los Angeles (2017); Plugin, Contemporary Istanbul, Istanbul (2015); and Across the World, Her Head is on the Balcony, Piartworks, Istanbul (2015). Karataşlı was also the founder of hüzünProject with curator Inez Piso.
