Marina Papazyan (born in 1996, Istanbul) graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam) Department of Fine Arts in 2018. In her work, she examines the principles of collection and montage through video, sound and text. She contemplates themes of vulnerability and grief through specific images, national literature and personal stories. Some of the group exhibitions she has participated in include Borders and Migration, Amsterdam (2016); New Found Land, Amsterdam (2018) and Gogbot Youngblood Awards, Enschede (2018). Papazyan has published articles, most notably “A Caliph in a Cage: Allowing the Ghost of Ibn-Khaldun to Come Back” (2017) and “Martyr-Bodies, Martyr-Images” (2018).
