Ayçesu Duran (b. 1992 Fethiye, Turkey) is an artist and editor currently living and working in Istanbul. She completed her BA degree in sculpture at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. Duran’s practice explores the ongoing process of civilization and its impact on the ways in which we interpret the absurdity of life and the physical world. Her interconnected sculptures and installations portray curated juxtapositions of manufactured appliances, products of the earth or of animals, and figures of speech. Duran opened her first solo exhibition Three Days Two Nights at Pilot Gallery, Istanbul in 2019. Some of her group shows include Curriculum Vitae, sub, Canakkale (2019); Midnight Cinema, Harlesden High Street, London (2017); Decadence, DAS Art Project, Istanbul (2017) and the good life, Market Peckham, London (2017).
